Alopecia areata (AA) is a common, non-scarring, autoimmune disease that can affect any hair-bearing area. Though various lines of management have been described for this condition, all have significant relapse rate with, with side effects of the medications too. PRP and Exosomes therapies has shown some promise in treating patients with alopecia areata by modulating immune response within the cells.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a preparation of autologous platelets in concentrated plasma. It has been investigated in several disciplines of medicine for its role in wound healing. At Hair Vista, we treat patients of alopecia areata with PRP or Exosomes, without any side effects, and with good preliminary results.

We use a high volume of purified and concentrated PRP and stem cell derived exosomes for improvement of the patient’s outcome as we have success in the use of PRP and Exosomes for hair rejuvenation in patients with other forms of alopecia. We feel that PRP and Exosomes is a safe and alternative treatment that may help a lot of patients overcome hair loss due to alopecia areata.

Proper counselling of the patient is very important before starting treatment for this disease since it is associated with recurrences very commonly. Most of the treatments available as of today are associated with both relapses and side effects, which affects the psychosocial life of the patients in the long run.

A new treatment has been approved for Alopecia Areata recently called Olumiant® (baricitinib), which is available by prescription. Call us for more information.
